Cade struggled to keep his anger under
wraps. He’d been blindsided by jealousy when he watched his woman
launch into the arms of another man. A good-looking one.
She cocked a brow at him, cool disdain for
him leeching into her blue eyes. The green flecks in them caught the low
lighting. “Family, Cade. Don’t you remember Vale and Victor Davidson?”
Turning to look at them once more, it hit
him. “Well shit. Famous ass hockey players. God damn, it’s good to see you
again.”
He shook their hands and was introduced to
the sexy woman beside Victor. Yanking up a chair, he made himself part of
the group, ensuring his leg pressed against Cora’s and his arm draped over
her shoulder. Nothing that was new between the two of them, and yet, this
was the first time he’d done that since they’d burned up the sheets
together. When she didn’t pull away like he’d expected her to do, he cut
his gaze to her. She wasn’t watching him but fully engaged with
Constantine speaking about what it was like to be an underwater welder.
“What brings you back home?” he asked
Victor, trying hard to control his body from where it reacted from his
stupid thought he could make Cora uncomfortable by flirting and touching
her.
“Taking our last little vacation before the
start of the season.”
“Just need a bit of warning here, can I put
money on y’all for winning the cup this year?” He winked.
Victor leaned in close, eyes sharp and
confident. “Hell yes. This is our year.”
“Consider it done.” He slapped the table
and grinned. |
