E.D.G.E. Security is a cover for a covert international organization that handles jobs most governments won’t. The operators are the elite of the elite, soldiers and spies, chosen for their skills and secrecy, and their ability to go beyond the edge.

An Esteemed Scientist

Dr. Charlotte Singh loves her job as head of research for EDGE Security, but she secretly yearns for field work and the promise of adventure it holds. At a conference in London, Charlotte finally gets her chance. But working an op isn’t everything she imagined, and the one person who can help her is a dangerously rugged Scotsman who isn’t interested in being part of anyone’s team.

A Disgraced Soldier

Jack Sinclair was kicked out of the British SAS after a mission gone horribly wrong. Now he’s hunting whoever is responsible for the deaths of his men and completely focused on finding justice for his friends. He has nothing left but his mission and he won’t let anyone, not even a sexy scientist with a smart mouth, interfere with it.

Opposites don’t just attract, they explode.

But when Charlotte’s life is threatened and she’s isolated from her team, Jack can no longer shut out the world or abandon the feisty woman who ignites something inside him. Hunted by terrorists, will Jack and Charlotte have to sacrifice themselves and their burgeoning attraction to the flames? Or will the city of London pay the price?

How does a blonde spell “Farm”?
E-I-E-I-O

Tressa Jayne Turner has had it up to here with the dumb-blonde jokes and a childhood nickname that’s harder to get rid of than her favorite pair of cowboy boots. Thanks to one Rick Townsend, Iowa Department of Natural Resources officer, local hottie, and general pain in Tressa’s behind, everyone knows her as “Calamity Jayne”. Just because she may be a little accident prone and trouble seems to sometimes find her, Tressa can’t get anyone in her small town to take her seriously. That is, until Tressa finds a seriously dead body and an opportunity to get “Ranger Rick” and a skeptical citizenry to see that she’s no longer that skinny kid with scraped knees. How? By resurrecting her job as a reporter for the hometown paper and solving a murder no one else believes happened… no one, that is, except the killer. Now Tressa is one not-so-dumb blonde who’s out to gain a little hometown respect or die trying.

Saturday Selection ~ Background for Murder by Shelley Smith

This week, it’s Background for Murder by Shelley Smith.

Dr. Maurice Royd, the head of a psychiatric hospital, is found slumped over his desk with his skull caved in.

But a lack of hard evidence leaves the local police stumped.

The difficulty is that there are too many people who could have murdered Dr. Royd, too many people who wished him dead.

Any one of that ‘bunch of crazies’ might have yielded to the impulse to do it.

Private Investigator Jacob Chaos is given the case by Scotland Yard.

Now time is of the essence for Chaos as he tries to get the job done discreetly, hushing up any possibility of a scandal.

But it seems there is quite a lot of funny business concerning the late Dr. Royd and digging any deeper seems to start stirring up trouble.

Before he knows it, Chaos inadvertently kick-starts a killing spree.

Racing against the clock with an ever growing list of suspects, Jacob Chaos must work to unravel the twisted skeins hiding the truth and catch the audacious murderer…

Background for Murder is a classic whodunit and stark exposé of human horror in the tangled worlds of sanity and insanity.

Saturday Selection ~ Avenging Angel by Tara Janzen

Saturday, January 6th, 2018

Happy Saturday, the first of 2018. SatSel

I figured for my selections this year I was going to go alphabetically by title. 52 Saturdays means I go through that 26 letter list twice this year and we’re starting off with Tara’s book.

This is my first book by Tara Janzen  but I’m looking forward to reading this one.

Take a look and see for yourself.

Living undercover and on the edge, Dylan Jones has seen damn few things to give him hope – until he sees her, Johanna Lane. But when the beautiful lawyer lands in the middle of his investigation, she also lands at the top of a powerful man’s hit list. Out of luck and out of time, Dylan only has one chance to save her, and he only has one plan – kidnap the beauty.

Frightened senseless, Johanna is shocked when she recognizes her captor, the bad boy bodyguard who had once worked for her powerful boss. She had been dangerously attracted to him, and now she’s in his clutches and at his mercy. But with the night heating up and the hitmen closing in, passion will have to take a back seat to survival…or will it? With these two, the only safe bet is on scorching desire and endless love!

Rose Nichols’s husband Mark is shot to death while walking the dog one night. When Rose learns what’s happened, she’s shocked but not sad. Mark used to beat her so much that she started drinking as a coping mechanism for their fractured marriage.
Detectives Cooper and White are put on the case. Cooper believes Rose is behind her husband’s death, while White suspects it was the privileged assistant general manager at the health club Mark managed.
The deeper they get into the investigation, the more complex it becomes and the stranger Rose acts. Her erratic behavior makes her seem so guilty even White agrees she must be the perp. Unfortunately, no hard evidence points to her, only at the assistant GM. Cooper and White are at a loss—who killed Mark?

Saturday Selection ~ The 14th Colony by Steve Berry

Saturday, December 23rd, 2017

I can’t even begin to tell you how big of a fan I am of Steve Berry. He’s an automatic buy for me. But I read his work from cover to cover so I have to make sure I have a day to devote before I can allow myself to start. This is that weekend.

What happens if both the president and vice-president-elect die before taking the oath of office? The answer is far from certain—in fact, what follows would be nothing short of total political chaos.
Shot down over Siberia, ex-Justice Department agent Cotton Malone is forced into a fight for survival against Aleksandr Zorin, a man whose loyalty to the former Soviet Union has festered for decades into an intense hatred of the United States.
Before escaping, Malone learns that Zorin and another ex-KGB officer, this one a sleeper still embedded in the West, are headed overseas to Washington D.C. Noon on January 20th—Inauguration Day—is only hours away. A flaw in the Constitution, and an even more flawed presidential succession act, have opened the door to disaster and Zorin intends to exploit both weaknesses to their fullest.
Armed with a weapon leftover from the Cold War, one long thought to be just a myth, Zorin plans to attack. He’s aided by a shocking secret hidden in the archives of America’s oldest fraternal organization—the Society of Cincinnati—a group that once lent out its military savvy to presidents, including helping to formulate three invasion plans of what was intended to be America’s 14th colony—Canada.
In a race against the clock that starts in the frozen extremes of Russia and ultimately ends at the White House itself, Malone must not only battle Zorin, he must also confront a crippling fear that he’s long denied, but which now jeopardizes everything. Steve Berry’s trademark mix of history and speculation is all here in this provocative new thriller.
