Monday Book Memories ~ Breaking All the Rules

Monday, December 31st, 2018

This one came about because I love doing stories about family. Here we have four brothers who have each gone into different branches of the service and after they are out, join together to form a protection company.

One night of passion can lead to anything. For a woman and her boss, can it—will it—lead to happily ever after?

A member of D.A.R.K. Cover, Inc., Kristopher “Wild” Wilder is taking a few days of R&R in Belize after his last mission. There he meets a woman who sets his blood on fire and the night they share is explosive to say the least. Little does he know, she’s the woman his brothers hired to be their company’s newest pilot. After the passion in Belize, he looks forward to continuing the connection. Problem: she isn’t on board with that idea.

Alyse Lamar is a damn good pilot. She’s taken this new job for a few reasons but when she realizes she’s slept with one of her new bosses, she isn’t sure it’s the best place for her to remain. She can’t seem to keep her hands off him, nor him her. Her strict rule about never mixing business with pleasure is taking one heck of a beating.

Wild is many things, a quitter isn’t one of them. He wants this feisty woman and knows she wants him just as much. He vows to find a way past her walls and make her understand that what began as one night in Belize is worth breaking all the rules and canlead to forever.

Wednesday Whisper ~ Temporary Home

Wednesday, December 26th, 2018

“Stop being an ass, Dean. He’s family and of course he will stay here.”

“I don’t consider him my family, Laila, and if you put him up, I’ll disown you.”

Laila’s gasp raked like talons through his chest. When her parents had died, Dean had welcomed her easily into his home, treating her as a daughter, not as a niece.

The other two—Chris and Tom, according to Laila—backed Dean. Furious on her behalf, Sam began to enter the kitchen. However, a new, unknown voice broke in. “Oh, for fuck’s sake, Dean. Don’t be such an ass. This isn’t even your house.”

Feminine and slightly raspy, the sound skated along his skin, making him hyperaware.

“Nor is it yours, Roxi, so keep it shut. Or else.”

Sam stepped through the doorway, unwilling to let a woman be threatened.

“Or else what, Dean? Or else what?” Her voice grew darker and he recognised the warning in it, even if Dean didn’t. She obviously didn’t need his protection. She gave a disgusted snort. “That’s what I thought. Laila, he can stay at my house, so your cousin doesn’t flip.”

Everyone fell silent and he glanced at the woman again. She was taller than Laila but still shorter than him. Her hair was pulled back and piled up, showing off a slender neck and making him unable to tell how long her hair was. Skin the hue of dark cocoa covered her lush figure. She wasn’t fat, she had the curves of a real woman, not a half-starved model.

She—Roxi—had silver piercings all along the ear he could see. Well-worn, medium-blue jeans and a hot-pink, tight T-shirt moulded beautifully to her body.

“Such a whore, Roxi. Don’t even know the man and you’re ready for him to be with you in your house.”

He ignored the young boy in him who had been thrown away and was still searching for something he knew would always be his. It wasn’t rational. Still, it was something he had to face. He focused on Dean and the hate spewing from him.

Roxi, however, only laughed. Her amusement flowed like warm velvet over his skin. “Don’t be jealous, I don’t want your STD, Dean. Or is that STDs now? I have discerning tastes, you know, ones that don’t include you. And while everyone here knows I’d never let you in, I have no problem with this man staying with me.”

“You don’t even know him!” Dean thundered. “None of us do aside from Laila, and I think she’s enamoured with him.”

Roxi touched Laila’s arm softly. “Doesn’t matter,” she said. “He can stay with me.”

“Why?” Dean sounded strangled.

Roxi lifted her head and stared directly at Sam, unsurprised, as if she had known he’d been there the entire time. Her gaze went over him and he noticed the gleam of appreciation. Her eyes were coffee brown and steadfast.

“Because, Dean. Just because. It’s not anything you’d understand.”

But Sam did. Around her neck sat the eagle, anchor and globe, emblem for the United States Marine Corps.

“Semper Fi,” he said.

Everyone but Roxi jumped. She gave him a slight smile along with her nod.

Tuesday Teaser ~ Temporary Home

Tuesday, December 25th, 2018

First and foremost. MERRY CHRISTMAS to those who celebrate!!

“Easy there, son.”

Sam stared up in shock to find a tall black man standing there looking down at him. He took in the white hat with the black brim, the blue pants with a blood-red stripe on them—visible from beneath the dark coat—and the shiny shoes. He knew what he’d found. Or rather who had found him. A Marine.

The man extended his hand and it seemed that even the leather of his gloves was spotless.

“I’m fine,” he snapped, embarrassed and a bit frustrated.

“No harm in accepting some help.” The man’s tone never changed. His deep bass rumbled, reminding him of thunder.

Sam reached out slowly, half expecting the hand to jerk away or hit him in the face. Neither happened, and the man lifted him clear of the freezing water with ease. Sam’s teeth began to chatter as more of Minnesota’s winter wind slammed into him.

“You have anywhere to stay tonight, son?”

Mute, he shook his head as the large man began shrugging out of his coat. Sam was in awe of the uniform and never even moved when the heavy coat was placed on his too-thin shoulders. Immediately he warmed as the wind was blocked. The sleeves were too long and they fell to drag on the snowy ground. All he could think about was how nice it was to no longer be freezing.

Monday Book Memories ~ Temporary Home

Monday, December 24th, 2018

There were a lot of moving parts that went into this one. I wanted to do stories based on emotions I get from some songs I hear. I had a Sam in my life at this time who is, and will always be, a hero to me. As is his father.

I love this story.

Sometimes past demons need to be faced before one can embrace what the future offers, and who better to slay them than a Marine?

Gunnery Sergeant Sam Hoch travels to the Pac Norwest upon receiving word his mentor and the closest thing to a father he’s had, has taken a turn for the worse and is in the hospital. Once there he meets a woman who is unlike any he’s ever met before. A former Marine herself, she opens up her home to him so he can be near his family.

Roxi Mammon isn’t positive it’s smart to allow Sam to stay with her, not with her immediate physical reaction to him. She’s heard tales of him from her best friend, his sister, and now having met him she is even more impressed by the man the Corps has turned him into—a silent, strong type. Passion grows between them and soon she finds herself falling for the Recon Marine. And falling hard.

As things escalate between them, Sam has to accept his past doesn’t control him if he plans on keeping Roxi in his future. Can he understand that this is the one woman who can give him something more? Will he silence the fear within him and tell Roxi she’s the one for him? Will he realise that he deserves more than just a temporary home?

Wednesday Whisper ~ Belongs to You

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

His large work roughened hands skimmed over her bare shoulders down across the tight top she wore during her exercise. He slid them down until they rested against the globes of her ass where after gripping and flexing twice he held her tighter to him. There was no way to ignore blatant ridge in his jeans not that she wanted to. The shrill ring of the house phone shattered the moment building between them. Even so, he didn’t spring away. His green eyes latched onto hers as he slowly ended the intense kiss, drawing out her lower lip in his until a pop free from his mouth. Even then he didn’t move until after he skimmed her lips with his thumb pad. His gaze dropped from hers to her lips and back again. The possession in his gaze burn straight through to her core. Never in her life had she ever felt so marked, so desired.
